Heating.
The controller for the heating will be set for heating to come on for a couple of hours in the morning and again last thing in the evening. There are over ride buttons to bring on or off early or for an extra hours boost. Please do not change the settings.
The temperature of the rooms is controlled with the individual radiator valves.
The Hot water is set to be on all day and the boiler will come on as required.
TV & radio
Our Sky Tv package includes the popular Family Entertainment package that includes Movies, Documentary, Music and general entertainment. Other channels may be available by arrangement subject to the pay per view fee.
Radio reception is very poor in the area but some Radio stations are available via the Sky service - Channels 0101 and up...
Sorry but we cannot be held responsible for some of the rubbish available.
The pin for the Sky TV Box is 1931
Internet.
Wifi - Jonnas Cottage - currently there is no password set.
This is a share of our own Broadband internet connection which considering our rural location is perfectly acceptable for normal use. We offer the service on a trust basis and request that use is kept to respectable level of usage.
If you do require either large downloads or heavy duty gaming or streaming please let us know in case this conflicts with our own business use.
Water Supply.
Our water comes from a spring in our grounds so you will be drinking real ‘Scottish Highlands Spring water’ and has no chemical or other treatments, its the real deal !
The supply is checked on a regular basis by the local Environmental Agency to be suitable for domestic use but as a precaution the kitchen cold tap has a filter and bug killer.
However during the dryer months (we do get them) we may need to supplement the spring from a feed from an open mountain stream which at times may be subject to less pure water.
Whilst this is considered to be normally safe for drinking we will let you know if this supply is being used. We advise that anyone that may be effected by natural untreated water then please use cleaned, pre boiled or bottled water.
Our waste is an untreated septic tank so please do not put oil or any non perishable items down the sink or toilets. You will amazed at what we see floating in the tank when its emptied, sorry about sharing that thought :)
Electricity.
There is a coin meter in the cupboard near the dining room to hallway door but it is our policy to pre fill this for your stay. There is a separate coin box for the Sauna which is for the guests to feed as required. This is on the wall just outside the sauna room.
Sauna.
Firstly turn on the isolator next to the coin box in the hallway and please switch off after use.
Leave the lower temperature control on Full and turn the control on the top to 1 for 1 hours, 2 for 2 hours etc. (The red numbers are for a delay to switch on, no idea why they have these as you would not wish to have it come on whilst not in the property)
Drip water on as required, the more water (within reason) the hotter the Sauna will get.
The heater will heat the sauna up in 15-20 mins and will use approx £1 per 15 mins.
Lounge Wood burner.
The lounge fire will burn wood and coal. Peat is not recommended as it can burn too hot.
Once going this is extremely efficient but can be a bit temperamental to get going. Best use plenty of firelighters and kindling then a mix of coal and logs. The heat rate is controlled by opening up the sliders on the front doors.
Waste and recycling.
Please put full bin bags in the large green wheelie round the side of the decking.
There is also a Blue recycling bin for Glass, Paper and plastic. We also recycle cardboard separately but this can go in a separate bag in either bin.
And if you can work out when thick paper becomes cardboard or plastic is not plastic let us know, seems the gods of recycling are not from planet earth.
There is a small Grey plastic bin for dog poo bags.
On departure please leave the last bin bag in the Kitchen bin. if you wish any last minute recycling can be left in the hallway.
